Water for All supports water projects in a number of countries, such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, China, India, Kenya, Mongolia and Uganda. Below are short descriptions of our ongoing or more recent projects.

AFGHANISTAN, Nangarhar

A three-year WASH project in the Momandara District of the Nangarhar province in Afghanistan, aimed at improving the health and hygiene status in the area. In total 21 deep wells and more than 200 latrines will be distributed, combined with trainings on hygiene.

In 2015, some 6.3 million out of 14.9 million Cambodians are unable to access clean drinking water, most of them poor and living in rural areas. About 40 percent of Cambodians in rural areas have access to clean water, compared to 80 percent in the capital Phnom Penh. This is why Water for All is working to improve the quality of rural water, and in turn help accelerate Cambodia’s social and economic development.

CHINA, Jiaxian County, Shaanxi Province

MALI, Damina

In Damina, a rural community in southern Mali with a population of 2,000, the women have to look for water to drink, cook and assure their personal hygiene, often walking 10 km to reach a natural water supply. For this reason, Water for All Spain decided to collaborate with a local NGO in the construction of a well. It provides clean drinking water to Damina´s community and to the recently built maternity ward in the same village. It also benefits all people belonging to the Niagané´s sanitary community.

In total three schools (Shree Mahendra Boudha Higher Secondary School, Shree Janakalyan Higher Secondary School and Shree Mahankal Janajagrit Higher Secondary School) received water filtration systems. Before this project was constructed, the schools had limited or no access to clean and safe drinking water. Now groundwater is purified through ultraviolet, carbon, and ultrafiltration systems and piped to drinking stations. To improve hygiene and keep students healthy, hand-washing stations were also built.

The objective of this project is to provide patients and staff at the Lowa Health Center with access to safe and clean water. The community around the village close to the health center will also be the beneficiaries of this project. The health center offers various services to the community namely Outpatient, Inpatient, Reproductive Health/Clinic as well as dental services.

TURKEY, Refugee camp for Syrian refugees

In early 2015, a lot of refugee camps were set up by the Red Cross to aid Syrian refugees in Turkey. At that time, there was a total of 10.000 babies who did not have access to breast feeding. Water for All contributed with milk powder for babies in refugee camps.

The project will also improve the health status of the population of the Kembumba community by reducing water-borne diseases and associated deaths, especially in children under five.
