Second module of training - Participatory resource mapping (PRM)

9th - 13th March 2016

The training program was conducted for 5 days. PRM is a tool to collect data in detail regarding the farms. Farmers’ participation was very important while conducting this survey. It includes data collection like land slope, soil type, cropping pattern, crop yield, water sources, and irrigation methods. This survey should be done for each farmer and each survey number.

Farmers also taken in to consideration while PRM practice on the field

Atlas Copco Water 4 All - Project Jaldoot field study

Morning field study in groups on various methods and then in classroom discussion on the same

On 2nd, 3rd and 4th day of training, field visits were conducted in the morning on all three days. Jaldoots were asked to collect field data, which included measurement of the total farm, land slope, soil depth, cropping pattern, and yield. These data were later plotted on maps. Three different maps were used for the same - water resources and other resources, cropping pattern, characteristics of land.

5th day was planned for practical on making A-Frame (Instrument for marking contours on ground) was conducted, along with roof top rain water harvesting concept. Making of recharge pits by using different filter mediums and materials were also explained.  The training session was concluded with test and feedback.

At the time of concluding all jaldoots were given an assignment on different topics and progress was monitored by experts. Jaldoots interaction with the villagers after each training was also monitored by experts. In case of wrong selection of site the reason was explained to understand the subject more clearly.

Second training was conducted from 9th to 13th of March 2016 at Village - Katkalamba, Taluka - Kandhar, District - Nanded.
