The Peter Wallenberg Water for All Foundation, established in 2015, offers the network of local Water for All organizations the opportunity to receive co-funding for projects that give people in need long-term access to clean drinking water.
The worldly renowned businessman Peter Wallenberg was active in Atlas Copco Group during 61 years and served as Honorary Chair when he passed away in January 2015. To honor his memory, many generous donations were made to Water for All.
In order to manage the donations, the Peter Wallenberg Water for All Foundation was established, jointly governed by representatives from Peter Wallenberg’s family, Atlas Copco Group, and Water for All.
How the Foundation works
Each fall the Peter Wallenberg Water for All Foundation offers every all Water for All organizations the opportunity to apply for co-funding for their water, sanitation, and hygiene projects. Both new and old organizations are welcome to apply as long as they can provide at least 10% of the funding themselves.
As of 2022, the Foundation will also help draw attention to Water for All through the Water for All Award. Initiated in 2022, the award will each year, on World Water Day March 22, recognize a Water for All organization for a special achievement. The award is financed by the Peter Wallenberg Water for All Foundation and the winner will get funding to send 1-2 employees to visit an implemented Water for All project in order to learn first-hand how water changes lives.
In addition to supporting Water for All, the Foundation has also funded its own water, sanitation, and hygiene projects. The first flagship project was implemented in Malawi in 2015-2018, targeting 19 villages with 26 different water installations. A second large-scale project was commenced in Uganda in 2021, this time in partnership with the global network of Water for All organizations. All in all, 48 villages will be included with almost 30,000 people served.
