The Pikangikum First Nation community with around 2500 residents, located 100 kilometers north of the Town of Red Lake in Ontario, was selected as Water for All Canada’s first project.
In June 2017, a total of CAD 25,000 had been raised through voluntary donations. The money is to contribute to a water and waste-water system installation in one household. The remaining funds will be saved to retrofit other homes in this community. The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) is a Toronto based organization specialized in response for emergency relief, refugees, development and justice. They have been intrusted by Water for All Canada to be responsible for the management and application of the funds collected for The Pikangikum First Nation community.
